I Pulled Back From Our Long-Distance Relationship. Now Neither of Us Calls

HotWife Diaries, October 2026

We had agreed to talk on Tuesday. After days of uneven WhatsApp messages, I wanted an actual conversation with the woman I loved. Then she canceled because of work. I believed she could have moved the work around. She didn't, and a call that might have helped us find each other again became one more thing we hadn't managed to do.

I'm 51; she's 54. Our relationship has been long-distance, which means seeing each other takes planning. Usually, I've been the one arranging trips, doing the traveling, paying for things, and keeping us connected between visits. I didn't resent being generous. I started resenting the feeling that, unless I kept making things happen, very little would happen at all.

I had imagined a future with her. That made the imbalance harder to admit, because I wasn't weighing up a few inconvenient journeys. I was wondering whether the woman I pictured sharing a life with was as invested in getting there as I was. Loving her and feeling important to her had begun to seem like separate matters.

After my last visit, I pulled back for a couple of days. I was sad, worn out, and unsure what I was feeling. I wasn't trying to set a test for her. But she understood the distance as a breakup, and that is the part I can't explain away simply by pointing to what I intended.

We did speak. I told her I still loved her and that I needed a small break to understand what was going on inside me. Even after that explanation, things cooled considerably. The contact continued on WhatsApp, sometimes warm, sometimes cold, with long gaps. We were still exchanging messages, but I didn't feel we were talking about what had happened.

I missed her. I asked for a proper phone conversation more than once, and it felt to me as though she was avoiding it. Eventually, we settled on Tuesday. By then, that call carried more weight than an ordinary catch-up. I wanted us to talk about the relationship we were in, rather than keep exchanging messages around it.

I know work can interfere with plans. What hurt was the context: the earlier requests, the days of disconnection, and finally an agreed time that didn't hold. I can't know whether she saw that cancellation the way I did. To me, it landed on a worry that had been building well before Tuesday—that making room for us mattered more to me.

Now I've stepped back completely. Neither of us has made a meaningful attempt to reconnect. I'm left looking at my own part as well as hers. Withdrawing may have made my sadness harder to understand, and my reassurance afterward may not have undone the hurt. It's also possible that I was already doing more of the work than I wanted to admit. Both possibilities can exist without turning either of us into a villain.

I still love her. I haven't decided whether to reach out once more. Another attempt would mean trying to have the conversation we missed; leaving things here would mean accepting that this silence might be how we end. At the moment, neither of us has broken it.

When Sexual Compatibility Becomes a Breaking Point

October 2026October 2026

Sexual compatibility is often treated as a bonus: lovely when it’s there, secondary to the supposedly sturdier business of love, kindness and shared plans. But for some people, it is not an ornament on a relationship. It is part of the structure. That does not make it everyone’s priority—or make…
