Why Does He Produce So Much Pre-Cum? What the Amount Can Tell You

HotWife Diaries, July 2026October 2026

Some men notice a little clear fluid during arousal; others notice enough to wonder whether something unusual is happening. More fluid does not give you a reliable reading of how much he wants you. Bodies are inconveniently resistant to being used as relationship surveys.

What the fluid is

Pre-ejaculate, often called pre-cum, is a secretion from accessory glands, including the Cowper glands. It is different from the semen released during ejaculation. A discussion in the Journal of Andrology describes considerable variation and, just as importantly, limited research establishing a normal amount. That is a reason to avoid precise internet scorecards.

What it does not tell you

The amount is not a dependable test of attraction, sexual experience, fidelity, or how satisfying an encounter will be. Comparing it with a former partner’s response is unlikely to produce useful information. Asking this partner what he likes is considerably more direct.

If the practical issue is mess, say so without making it an embarrassment. A towel and an ordinary conversation are adequate responses to many things the internet insists on turning into a crisis. Neither partner has to accept fluid contact they dislike.

When the question changes

An established pattern is different from a new, unexplained discharge, discomfort, or a change that worries him. Those questions belong with a clinician who can assess the circumstances, rather than an article diagnosing by appearance.

For the separate health question, read our explanation of oral contact and STI risk. For fluid released during ejaculation, see semen volume. The three questions are related, but they are not interchangeable.
